Every February the Carnival arrives, starting with 'La Morcillá' as the starting point presenting all the carnival groups. The carnival has been and is the most outstanding and deep-rooted festival in Bornos, where the people are the main characters. The streets are filled with colorful and amazing costumes, overflowing with joy with the different groups that review what happened in the town to the rhythm of the 3x4.
The carnival concludes with the colorful parade on 'Piñata Sunday'.
¡YOU CANNOT MISS IT!.
In August Bornos dresses up again to have fun in the well-known CARNIVAL NIGHT, promoted and organized by the Peña Carnavalesca de Bornos. That evening you will be able to enjoy the best groups from all over the province, and of course counting on the anual winners of the prestigious Cadiz Carnival Group Contest. The attendance of the public, both local and foreign, is massive, increasing every year, and completely filling the sports courts of the Colegio San Juan de Ribera, which is where it is usually held.
Between March and April comes the season of spiritual recollection and devotion to the streets of Andalusia. In 1518 Bornos carried out the first Stations of the Cross in Spain and nowadays every year its brotherhoods make a station of penance through its streets.
The Coto de Bornos takes centre stage every Passion Saturday with the representation of the Passion of Christ and on Holy Saturday with the original tradition of 'Burning of Judas', a unique festival that attracts a greater number of visitors every year.
Every May comes the Cultural Week organized by the Bornos Cultural Week Association and in collaboration with the City Council and the town becomes a constant hive of cultural activities for all audiences (music, theater, conferences, sports, guided tours...) filling all the hours of the 8 days that it lasts.
Snail Fair
In May, you can enjoy traditional and innovative recipes of snails, cabrillas, and "burgaos" in some places in Bornos, as well as delicious local sausages. All this in the incomparable setting of the courtyard of the Convent of Corpus Christi, a sixteenth-century building.
In the first weeks of September, the fair arrives, dressing the town with the typical flamenco dresses and filling its fairgrounds with flamenco music, a good atmosphere and a beautiful horse ride.
